Through humor and subversion, Mexican mask makers have always responded to the social and political circumstances of contemporary life. With a regional focus in Michoacan, Mexico, this exhibition presents a selection of dance masks from the MAC collection and contemporary Mexican artists.

Joe Feddersen: Earth, Water, Sky
Joe Feddersen: Earth, Water, Sky showcases the breadth of the artist’s 40-year career, including printmaking, glass, weaving, and ceramics. From miniatures to wall-sized installations, the exhibition features over 120 works that communicate his Plateau-Native viewpoint of the powerful American landscape and our interconnected relationship with it.

Joe Feddersen: Earth, Water, Sky Exhibition InfoFrank S. Matsura: Portraits from the Borderland
Frank S. Matsura: Portraits from the Borderland features studio images by Washington-based Japanese photographer Frank Sakae Matsura (1873-1913) alongside period-specific American Indian regalia from the Columbia Plateau. Exploring Indigenous representation through a multi-dimensional lens, the photographs and objects on view detail some of Matsura’s most culturally significant work against a backdrop of regional transformation.
