Joel E. Ferris Research Archives

The Joel E. Ferris Research Archives, home to the Eastern Washington State Historical Society, is located in the Cheney Cowles Center of the Northwest Museum. The archive preserves and provides access to historic photographs, manuscripts and archival papers, maps, books, architectural drawings, posters, oral histories, and printed ephemera.

Hours and Access

The research room of the Joel E. Ferris Research Archives is open by appointment only during research hours. Appointments must be scheduled in advance with archives staff and researchers are expected to follow research room guidelines.   

Our Archivist is on maternity leave!

During that time, the Archives will be open on Wednesdays from noon to 6:00pm beginning September 13 and through October. 

Our interim Reference Archivist, Logan Camporeale, will take research appointments on a first-come-first serve basis on Wednesday’s only.
