Tips
for Visiting

When is the best time to visit?

  • The museum is closed Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.
  • The museum is also closed on the following holidays: Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
  • Our Education Department schedules its classroom activities from 10am-1pm, Wednesdays through Fridays, during the school year. Normally, there are quite a few children in the museum during this period.
  • Saturday is generally busier than weekdays.
  • The Campbell House historic home is open for guided tours most Wednesdays through Saturdays at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. A tour of Campbell House is included in the regular admission price. Tour capacity is 16 visitors. For organized group visits, click here. For more information on the house, click here.

Approximately, how long does it take to go through the Museum?

  • It will vary based on your individual interests. However, on the average, most visitors spend about 2-4 hours on-site.

Are there any personal items that are prohibited in the galleries?

  • To help maintain a safe environment for all our guests, we require that the following personal items be left in your vehicle or our storage lockers before entering the main galleries. The storage lockers are located in the coatroom, next to the greeters station at the main entrance and require a 25 cent deposit (quarter’s only)

    • Packages
    • Large Handbags
    • Food or Drink
    • Umbrellas
    • Camera/Video Tri-Pods

Can I take pictures in the Museum?

  • Personal use camera and video photography is authorized throughout the MAC complex, unless otherwise posted. Restricted areas will have placards posted to inform our guests of photography restrictions.
  • Commercial use photography and tri-pods must be pre-approved. Please call (509) 456-3931 for assistance.

What type of weather can I expect during my visit?

  • Jan 20s; light to moderate snowfall
  • Feb 30s; light to moderate snowfall
  • Mar 30-40s; light snowfall; light to moderate rain; snow melt
  • Apr 40-50s; light to moderate rain; snow melt
  • May 50-60s; light to moderate rain
  • Jun 70-80s; light rain; drying
  •  Jul 80-90s; rather dry
  • Aug 80-90s; rather dry
  • Sep 70-80s; rather dry
  • Oct 50-60s; light rain and snow
  • Nov 30-40s; light snowfall
  • Dec 20-30s; light to moderate snowfall
