| Facility RentalsThe Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC) provides an elegant and sophisticated setting for your event, affording you and your guests a unique opportunity to experience art, culture, and history in any of the museum's many galleries and public spaces. The MAC is one of the foremost cultural and visual arts museums in the Pacific Northwest and boasts a diverse collection of artwork, historical objects, and the largest collection of Northern Plateau American Indian artifacts in the world. Throughout the year the MAC augments its superb permanent collections with traveling exhibitions from the world's greatest anthologies — from the work of a single artist to a celebrated period in history. The MAC is centrally located in historic Browne's Addition, just a mile west of downtown Spokane. Our campus has sweeping views of Northern Spokane and is nestled among the unique beauty and architecture of one of Spokane's most renowned and historically prominent neighborhoods. Facilities Available for RentEXHIBITION & EDUCATION BUILDING
Cafe MAC: Adjacent to the Orientation Gallery. Can be rented after cafe hours either with the existing tables or, for an extra fee, without. With the tables removed, this space makes a memorable dance floor.
Admissions Lobby: Modern and spacious foyer to our galleries that can be used for a stand-alone event or in conjunction with the adjacent Gilkey Community Room. Ideal for stand-up receptions with up to 150 people or can accommodate 55 people seated.
Gilkey Community Room: Elegant board room with sweeping views of Northern Spokane and the museum's outdoor Amphitheater. Accommodates a variety of seating arrangements for up to 50 people including board tables, round tables and theater style seating. Suitable for meetings, luncheons/dinners, receptions or other medium-sized engagements.
Education Lobby: A small intimate space, ideal for bridal showers or a luncheon on a Saturday afternoon. Located one floor down from Admissions, the lobby can be rented on weekend afternoons when the Museum is open to the public. The galleries are just a quick flight up the stairs.
Plateau Cultural Center: A small meeting room tucked away in the lower level of the building. Can accommodate up to 12 people.
CHENEY COWLES CENTER
Eric A. Johnston Memorial Auditorium: Comfortable and accessible facility in the former Cheney Cowles Museum building that has theatre-style seating for 167 people. Provides an intimate setting for lectures, conferences, film or video presentations, small recitals or performances, training seminars and much more. Facility can accommodate several wheel chairs and is fitted with a professional audio and video system that includes headphones for the hearing impaired.
Helen South Alexander Lobby & Gallery: Unique L-shaped space adjacent to the Eric A. Johnston Memorial Auditorium and Joel E. Ferris Library in the former Cheney Cowles Museum building. The long gallery hallway showcases contemporary regional art from our Art @ Work rental and sales program. Ideal for cocktail parties, intimate sit-down dinners, or in combination with the Auditorium for a post-lecture reception.
CAMPUS / OUTSIDE
Outdoor Amphitheater: Majestic outdoor public space ideal for summer weddings and celebrations of the visual arts, music, history and multi-cultural activities. Also a great space to hold a warm summer reception or sit-down dinner. Surrounded by landscaped woods, intricate flagstone walkways and the West face of our museum building, this facility can accommodate 300 people in its permanent concrete seating or about 120 people at round tables. The Education Lobby, adjacent to the ground floor of the amphitheater, can also be rented to provide additional space.
Museum Plaza & Front Lawn: Beautifully landscaped outdoor public space in front of our museum building surrounded by intricate flagstone walkways, modern architecture, and gorgeous views of Northern Spokane and the historic Browne's Addition neighborhood. Provides an ideal setting for larger celebrations, receptions or dinners. These spaces together can accommodate 600 people for a stand-up reception or about 200 people at round tables and can only be used outside of the museum's normal business hours.
Rental RatesThe cost to hold an event at the Museum depends on which space(s) you use, the length of the event, required set-up, and whether or not you wish to have access to the galleries. Museum Policies and InformationDeposit & Payment: A deposit equal to the room rental costs -- along with a signed contract -- is required to hold facility space on a definitie basis. Deposits are non-refundable (see Cancellations) and will be deducted from the final bill. Final payment, for charges such as security, A/V rental, gallery admissions, etc., is due on the day of your event. Cancellations: The museum must be notified of any change of date or cancellation at least two weeks prior to a scheduled event or we may charge you for the total amount of all estimated charges, including but not limited to security, set up, and audio visual rental fees. The museum reserves the right to cancel an event due to unforeseen or exceptional circumstances in which case the deposit will be refunded in full. Scheduling & Availability: Scheduling and coordinating of all private events is done solely by the Facility Rental Manager and Rental Coordinator. All events not held in a private room or non-public area of the museum must be scheduled outside of normal museum hours and cannot conflict with another MAC-sponsored event or activity on the premises. Events that require closure of the exhibition areas during regular museum hours will not be permitted. Facility Setup: Facilities are available for setup at least ninety minutes prior to the start of an event but cannot interfere with the museum's obligation to the general public or the safekeeping of its collections. For events taking place is non-public areas of the Museum (e.g. amphitheatre, Gilkey Community Room, auditorium) set-up may be possible earlier, depending on facility usage. The Museum cannot store or move event supplies, such as equipment or decorations, unless arranged in advance with the Facility Rental Manager. Catering: Clients must use the Museum’s café vendor, D’Zaar, for events beginning or taking place during regular café hours which are Wednesday – Saturday, 11:00am – 4:00pm. D'Zaar can be reached by contacting Victor Azar at (509) 768-3940 or victor@dzaar.com. For events after café hours, clients may also choose D’Zaar or may select from our current list of Preferred Caterers. Catering details should be arranged by contacting the food service provider directly. No guest or invitee may bring food or beverage of any kind into a function room without the written permission of the Facility Rental Manager. Food and beverages may be consumed and served in designated areas only and are prohibited in museum galleries or collection areas at all times. Audio/Visual Equipment: A variety of equipment is available through the museum and can be rented for your event for a nominal fee. This charge includes professional setup, maintenance and operation of equipment including microphones and speakers, overhead and slide projectors, TV/VCRs and a number of other presentation tools. Gallery Admissions: Guests attending events during normal business hours may purchase tickets to the galleries at Admissions. Alternatively, clients may “host” admissions for his/her guests by purchasing tickets in advance, at a discounted event rate. (For events held outside of museum hours, gallery admissions must be pre-purchased.) Family memberships, gift certificates or other museum products may be purchased at any time by phoning the Museum Store at (509) 363-5356. Restrictions: In order to prevent damage to museum property, signage and other display items may not be affixed to any wall, floor or ceiling unless approved by the Facility Rental Manager. User will be liable for any damages caused while using the museum's facilities and billed accordingly. Food and beverages are prohibited in museum galleries and collection areas at all times. Music or other live entertainment is permitted only after business hours providing it does not interfere with the museum's obligation to the general public or conflict with another event or activity. Per the City of Spokane flame candles are not permitted inside any Museum building or structure; however, events taking place outside may incorporate candles provided they are in suitable holders.
